February 3, 2021 Risshun立春

HELLO!

After more than five years of preparation from our shaved ice, our website “ Soen“ has officially launched!

In the 24 solar terms, “Risshun”立春 is the signal for the beginning of the year and spring.

This photo shows one of the flowers that bloom around Risshun. The name "robai" comes from its waxwork-like texture and pale yellow color, which reminds us of beeswax. In Chinese, the name reflects exact this season “a flower that welcomes spring”.

The flowers bloom with their heads down, as if to protect themselves from the north wind, so the light that filters through the petals when you look up at them is soft and blends in with the sky.

Last year of Risshun,Feb 3rd,I was in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, and still remember well how my friends and I enjoyed a celebratory sake called "Risshun立春 Asashibori朝絞り", which was appropriate for the auspicious Risshun day that welcomed spring.

The sake was pressed all night from the night before, and in the early morning of Risshun, the freshly pressed sake was delivered to stores and homes that night.

It is the freshest sake you can drink that morning. Of course, the sake is delivered unpasteurized. You can enjoy the fruity aroma and vibrant flavor of freshly brewed sake that can only be tasted in a sake brewery.

We hope that next year's Risshun will bring something fun and festive to Portland (and many other places) with the fresh sake that will be just born in the morning as celebrating our 1st year.

Happy New “Risshun” Year!
